Description
1929 Sea Lyon "model 40" -28 ' triple cockpit runabout. Howard W. Lyon was Garfield Wood`s most successful boat dealer, not only in New York, City but world wide. Around 1927 he decided to go into the boat building business himself. The Lyon - Tuttle shipyard on City Island, just outside downtown debuted this "model 40" for the 1929 New York Motor Boat show. It is powered by the original Scripps model 202, 678 cubic inch flathead 6 cylinder engine and put up 40mph. The Sea Lyon runabouts were very expensive (4,650), and thus, relativity few were ever built the company went out of business and closed it`s doors in 1933. Only 13 Sea Lyons are known to exist today and this is one of three model 40`s. It is over 90% original wood from 1929 and won Most original award at the 2015 Sunnyland ACBS show.
